Targeted Recreation Programs: Black Residents

Measurement Period: 2023
This indicator shows the number of participants that participated in recreation programs of County Park Friends.org which waived-fee permits for programs that target Black/African American residents.

Why is this important?

Use of recreation programs can foster community engagement and contributes to good physical and mental health. County Park Friends (501c3) has advocated for and successfully negotiated 'waived-fee permits" with Santa Cruz County Parks for programs that target specific populations that have been underrepresented in visitation and benefit. Targeted programs are provided to the community free of charge. County Park Friends provides these programs in support of the strategic goals of the County Parks Department.
